Downgrading Facilities

Any player made structure can be destroyed.

Why would anyone do this?

  1. Need the wood for something else: A portion of the resources (about half) you used to upgrade that structure will be dropped into your warehouse (if there is one).
  2. There can be only one! Outpost that is. In any sector there can only be one Outpost. You can have a dozen camps, lumbermills, quarries, solar farms, but only one town/outpost.
  3. Save some money: Every week you have to pay upkeep in bottlecaps. The price of that upkeep is based on the facilities in your town. If you have facilities no one uses or are higher level than they need to be (Garage 5? Really?), Downgraded it and save some cash long term.
  4. Bad placement: Need room for a Farm, but got no space? Tear out that Shop no one uses and put a Farm there. Need a wall to go thru there for better protection? Clear it out.
  5. Just not needed any more: Build a camp to push up a specific theme? A lumbermill you just don't need anymore? Take it down.
  6. Don't like the name but like the spot: Seems extreme, but I'm tempted.
  7. To be an asshole: You took over someone else's town and you really want to put the hurt on em? Tear down a workshop or main structure and burn up a big portion of wood and other precious resources. Tear down the Defenses so it is easier to hit them again later.

Regardless of why, the process goes like this: You click on Structure, click on the facility you want to Downgrade, open the little gear box and click Downgrade.

  • 24 hours (plus a bit) later, that facility will downgrade by one level. You can do each facility one level at a time to get as much wood back as you can or just go straight for the main structure and remove it from the map.
  • You can stop this process by clicking the Stop Downgrade button before the 24 hour clock ends.

If you downgrade the main structure to 0, the entire town disappears.
