Powering Your Town
Once your town hits level 3, you will see that you need electricity to continue to build many facilities. If you ever lose power, parts of the town will start to shut down.
Power sources:
Below is a list of all of the power sources a town can make use of. Be sure to read the section on Connecting Power at the bottom.
VERY IMPORTANT - You have to build the power structure at most 1 sector away from the town/lumbermill/quarry/mine you need it to power. Build it in the same sector or just one sector further out or it will not connect.
The Electric Generator
It is available by upgrading the town itself. It uses fuel so you will need to continuously add more fuel. More details at Electric_Generator.
Solar Farm
The solar farm is an external building you can build to supply power for your town, lumbermill, quarry, mine or oilwell. Keep in mind it has to be built within 1 sector of the facility you want it to power.
You will need 10 Wood OR 10 Brick, 100 Metal, 30 Plastic, 30 Chemicals, 20 Glass, 10 Microchips, 20 Batteries and 4 PV Cells.
You also need a crafter who knows the Solar Panel Blueprint to build it.
Solar farms provide 3 power if it is built in a desert climate sector, 2 if in a temperate climate sector and only 1 power if in a snow sector.
Wind Farm
Similar to the solar farm, the wind farm can be built to supply power for your town, lumbermill, quarry, mine or oilwell. Keep in mind it has to be built within 1 sector of the facility you want it to power.
You will need 10 Wood OR 10 Brick, 120 Metal, 40 Plastic, 10 Chemicals, 10 Microchips, 20 Batteries and 4 Turbines.
You also need a crafter who knows the Wind Turbine Blueprint to build it.
Wind farms provide up to 8 power if it is built in an area where there are no obstructions. When you go to place the wind farm it will show a green outline. If you pick an area where there is nothing but clear land/water/snow, you can get up to 8 power.
Connecting the power source to your structures:
Again - make sure you build your power station at most 1 sector away from the structure you want it to power.
Once you have the power station built, you need to connect it to your structure. Click the Connections button, select how much power you want to send (drop down with numbers), which structure you want it to connect to (dropdown shows all structures within 1 sector), and then click Add).
